One of the explanations of the sin of the tree of knowledge is that Adam did not account for the fact that it is impossible to know something without having a relationship with that knowledge.
Adam just wanted to observe the world of evil from the outside, and if he could have only seen it objectively, he would never have sinned.
But the fact is that it is impossible to be a mere observer, to have the knowledge and awareness of something without becoming emotionally involved to some degree.
The deeper one’s awareness and knowledge, the more entangled one becomes.
