Let My People Know

Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz: “The language of Torah and mitzvot.”

A genuine connection between the physical world and God cannot be generated by the world itself, as the signs and symbols that pass from one side of existence to the other can be created only by God.

Therefore, as long as a person speaks to God in his own personal language, through his personal experiences, although this may resonate with the person, it does not truly speak to God.

It is not actually transmitted to the supernal realm, from the finite to the infinite.

In order to create a true connection with the other side, one must communicate in its language.

Therefore, “speech” between a person and God is possible only by means of the language of Torah and mitzvot, which in this sense
is God’s language, the language He gave us with which to communicate with Him.
