Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz: “The ability to see inwardly.”

We never know whether something that appears good is truly good.

As it says, “Man sees what is visible, but God sees into the heart” (i Sam. 16:7).

The ability to see inwardly, into a persons heart, belongs to God alone.
