On Yom Kippur we are called upon to forgive one another.
This call is an attempt to arouse in man the holy spark, the “part of God from on high” that sets him above the limits and “laws” of reality.
The possibility of forgiveness is the highest expression of man’s essential nature, of his being created “in the image of God” and of his attachment to the Almighty.
