Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz: “The other side of reality.”

The precise nature of the impact an epiphany may have on you depends on the awareness it brings about in your life.

At times, one flash may be enough to shock you into an immediate response.

This can feel like walking in the dark when a sudden flash of lightning reveals that you are standing at the edge of an abyss.

In this kind of situation, a deep and sustained epiphany is unnecessary.

You now realize where you stand, and that is sufficient motivation to pull yourself away from there.

For instance, there could be an issue in your life that was never of interest, but now, suddenly, it can no longer be ignored.

You are at the edge of an abyss, at the point of no return.

The epiphany doesn’t reveal anything new.

Instead, it provides the discovery of an entirely different way of thinking, a realm of the soul that is located on the other side of reality.
