Let My People Know

Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz: “Friendship, like love, is fragile.”

Like most precious things, friendship is hard to purchase.

There is no currency, except friendship in return, that can pay for it.

There are times when one identifies a person that one wants to befriend, but it may require a long time and much effort of “courting” to make the other person agree to accept the friendship.

Making friends requires cultivating a relationship in a very sensitive way, because friendship, like love, is fragile.

The hurt that results when the trust of friendship has been betrayed can be much deeper than the hurt of love betrayed.
