Just as Genesis is a creation of a world out of nothing, so too are the Ten Sefirot called forth out of God to direct hidden worlds and revealed worlds, for as it is said in the Introduction to Tikunei Zohar:
“You conceal yourself in them.”
God clothes Himself in the Sefirot in order to sustain the world He has created and to control its course.
And since it is in the nature of a garment to both reveal and to hide, so too do the Sefirot reveal God’s action and conceal it.
Through our dim cognition of the Sefirot, we become aware of the way God directs us and our world.
