Let My People Know

"We are coming to an age when even Jewish leaders don't understand Jewish jokes"

We need teachers, we need better textbooks, we need to create a knowledge corps who will disperse all over the Jewish world-—to teach.

They must teach abstract knowledge and the laws and the history and the language—the Jewish way of life.

This can yet be done.

We have the people and the resources, and perhaps we still have some people who know the pressing need for it.

We have to re-create the Jewish audience, re-create the Jewish home.

We need schools for educating Jewish leadership so that they at least should know what the needs are.

We are coming to an age when even Jewish leaders don't understand Jewish jokes.

And this is a very bad thing.

A Jewish joke is not part of the Jewish creed, but it is a part of the Jewish heritage.

And when there comes a generation that doesn't understand it, it's very bad for us.
